Bombay Opticians™ opened its doors in 1990 with a simple idea: that an eye test should be thorough enough to actually catch what's wrong, and a frame recommendation should be honest enough to fit your face and your budget — not just whatever margin worked best for the shop. That idea hasn't changed in 35 years.
What has changed is reach. What started as a single counter has grown into a trusted name across the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, with generations of the same families returning for their eye care — parents who were first examined here now bring their own children through the same 20-step process.
Our current operational store is in Bindukhatta, on Car Road opposite Uttarakhand Gramin Bank — easy to reach from Lalkuan, Haldwani, and the wider Haldwani–Rudrapur corridor. It's a family-run counter, not a franchise: the person testing your eyes and the person adjusting your frame both have a personal stake in getting it right.
We've added the technology a modern exam calls for — auto-refractometers, digital lens edging, WhatsApp ordering — without changing what that technology is in service of: an honest, unhurried eye test and a prescription we'd hand to our own family.
A discount on the wrong prescription is not a discount at all. We'd rather tell you the truth about what you need — even when that means a smaller bill.
